Showing Up Isn't As Fancy As Announcing Results

2 min read28

… but it deserves its own recognition.

The past few weeks have been a lot.

Leaving home at 730am. Reaching home at 11pm. Working all day. Evenings filled with either course sessions or rehearsals. Coming home drained. Wash up. Straight to bed.

Only to do it all over again the next day.

While fasting. While navigating my ACLP course. While watching over my brother's evolving health issues. While managing a job that expects more than I'm willing to give.

There's been no big breakthrough.

But I showed up.

Every. Single. Day.

This weekend marks my 10th year performing the same key role in our Easter production. Each year, the story feels more personal - this year especially.

Rehearsals have been intense, often after long days of work, but also deeply fulfilling. It's more than just a show. It's faith. It's service. It's commitment.

Meanwhile, my brother's condition has shifted.

He's a stroke patient, and just recently, he's had trouble swallowing - a new development.

Tuesday, he'll undergo further investigations. I'm grateful my parents and our helper have been physically present, while I manage the rest from a distance.

In the background, my ACLP course (Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance) continues.

Two-thirds done now. It's more than just another paper - it's my bridge back into education and training. Back into what I truly want to build long-term.

Work has been... complicated.

A superior tried to make some changes in my WFH arrangement - affecting my productivity at home and even requesting I come to work daily, undermining a request I had from day one to stay close to my brother. It escalated unnecessarily.

But I held the line.

Life doesn't wait for one thing to finish before the next begins. We juggle. We adapt. We stretch.

I'm not complaining about the "side quests." Each area of life may be siloed, but they still feed into the main quest - the person I'm becoming.

Every day, I wear a singlet under my shirt. It reads: #KeepTryingUntil. It's for me - a reminder that no matter how hard it gets, I press on. Not because I'm fearless. But because I have faith.

And for the first time in weeks, I finally rested.

Just one day. It was so good to rest, before I get back on.

Because showing up - even when there's no result to speak of - still matters.
