What If You Had To Speak For 5 Minutes In Front Of Speaking Professionals?

60-Day Content Challenge Is Over And I'll Share My Insights Soon But First...

I'd like to share with you a short story about what happened during the weekend. I joined a 2-day Speakers Academy event immediately after posting for 60 straight weekdays.. I guess it was a happy coincidence that my content challenge ended precisely before that.

So... There was a Speaker's Challenge during the 2-day event where new speakers could take up the challenge to present a 30-second clip which judges will then decide if it's worthy enough to present a 1-minute version in front of about 100+ professional and aspiring speakers.

Submitted mine and to my surprise, I was selected amongst the top 8. A further surprise, I got into the top 4.

And a huuuuuuuuge surprise... I misread the previous instructions and I thought the top 4 will need to present a 4-6 minute version on day 2 so there would have been enough time to prepare. My bad.

So when I heard that we needed to present our longer versions on day 1, my mind went... oh nuts. And I was the 2nd person to go up. So while speaker 1 was up on stage, my mind went into quick creation mode.

Thankfully, I already had a structure in my head to follow.

But, long story short, I didn't win. I talked about why speakers don't perform well on social media, Spiderman, and a little bit about my brother.

After sharing the speech, in the day and the following day... Some came up to me and said that they enjoyed my sharing. That they could relate, they felt I was authentic in my sharing, or that they wanted to know more.

So, I'd say that even when one person said that it was their favourite, my heart is full.
