My Brother Is A Fighter

1 min read59

After exactly 2 weeks in the hospital, my brother is back home.

The damage from yet another stroke has damaged his vision. The bottom right part of his eyesight is blacked out. Imagine if your eyesight is permanently blacked out like this.

Chances of recovery from this is, according to the doctor, very slim.

He also spent his birthday (5 May) in the hospital.

And... He has very spotty memory. He can't remember things, and often forgets who his caregiver is.

Before we left the hospital, I saw some of his attempts at scribbling down his thoughts during his physiotherapy sessions...

"I want to earn money"
"Why do I feel like crying"
"What am I doing here"

He's confused and many things don't make sense. He didn't make a fuss, he didn't scream... He is quietly fighting in his own way.

He couldn't see what he was writing, holding the pen was also hard for him and yet... I see a fighter with a strong will trapped in a broken body.

He's a fighter and for now, he's home.
