AI Takes Your Work... What's Left Of You?

7 min read

Right now, anyone can make content in minutes. That is exactly why people trust it less.

You post something you worked hard on. Someone scrolls past and thinks, "AI wrote that." They did not see you think it through. They did not see the drafts. They just assume you typed a prompt and pressed enter. And honestly, I understand why.

That is the small version of a bigger problem - everything becomes dumped into a collective cesspool of “that’s AI” and the process behind it is disregarded.

That’s why I am changing how I show up online.

Why did I stop making videos for almost 2 years?

On Instagram, my latest video and my post before it are almost 2 years apart. That is a long gap for someone who teaches content creation.

3 Oct 2026 and 1 Mar 2024. More than 2 years apart when I posted these on Instagram. The 2 other videos I don't consider them as edited video content.

I was still posting on Facebook, mostly written posts with some pictures. But the videos stopped.

I only realised recently that I was still processing grief.

  • Some of it was about my brother, and what happened to him. I thought I was done with it. I was not.
  • In 2024, no matter what I tried, nothing worked. The entire year brought in a low 4-figures income. I felt completely defeated.
  • Continuous attempts kept failing. My heart & brain learned that effort did not mean progress, so it froze up. I experienced learned helplessness.

I am still one stubborn child of God, and I will #KeepTryingUntil. So, instead of being frozen, I chose to step away. To figure out what I wanted to do.

In the meantime, through a friend's connection, I found work. First in Project Management, and later into Marketing. It let me earn an income, gave me the breathing space, resources to explore, and time to find myself.

I kept on coaching, hosting, facilitating AI educational sessions, kept serving in church, my family, while looking after myself as best I could.

In the past few months, I thought deeply about the current state of the internet, and where it’s heading.

I decided to move my focus away from chasing vain metrics and onto a sustainable personal brand through authentic representation of myself through this website and the various pieces of content I put out on social media.

I think a lot of people in their 40s are about to feel the pressure on their income, their identity and their confidence.

There Is A #FutureFor40s

#FutureFor40s is the name for what I am building.

I am in my 40s too, and most of the people I want to help are around my age. Many feel left behind. They are struggling to catch up with what is happening, and some are quietly losing their sense of who they are.

If that’s you, I want to help you get your voice & self-worth back. I want to build a community, one real conversation at a time.

But when work, identity and hope are shaken at the same time, it is tough. I get it. Everything in life is now questionable. Speaking as a guy, I sincerely hope you don’t lose yourself and prematurely do anything drastic. You do not have to carry it alone.

What do I think is coming?

I speculate the next few years in 3 phases. The dates are guesses because of how fast things are moving. It is not meant to be some end-of-the-world proclamation and I do hope I’m wrong about these, frankly.

But I still want to be prepared for what’s coming in the future, as I envision it.

2026-27: Age of Average

AI will be taking over a lot of computer-based work. Writing. Designing. Coding. Things people spent years getting good at, now done in minutes. When anyone can make polished work that fast, people stop believing it came from you.

Some people become pseudo-experts because they have “seen it all”, incorrectly judging things as AI Slop without having created anything relatively similar.

Breakthroughs are hidden because when it gets shared, someone takes a screenshot, a transcript, a link, throws it into AI and creates their own. Original thought and processes become guarded.

Because people are stealing from people, AI stealing from AI, things start looking strangely similar to everything else.

Solution: Show proof

The human brain isn’t very good at keeping track of everything that went well in your life. People tend to downplay what they’ve already completed in the past.

Show your thinking. Tell the story behind the work. Let people see how you got there. Show everything you’ve been involved in and make a massive resume instead of restricting your life to a few pages of text.

That is how you stand out when everything looks the same.

2027-28: Under-employment and Escapism

Highly educated people are forced into lower paying, lower impact work, because mass sending resumes isn’t working out for them.

People spend more hours doomscrolling to escape mounting pressures of life while not socialising in 3rd places and communities.

The internet starts becoming filled with bots instead of people, the Dead Internet Theory. Bots crawling for viral news, and when something hits, AI agents fire automations to generate content to jump on the bandwagon.

Solution: Self-realisation

I’m the 1st to admit that I’m a very bad estimator of the value I bring to the marketplace. Often, it’s easier for you to see someone else’s potential than to believe in yours.

Instead of letting yourself be determined by a job title or a yet-to-be-attained achievement, you must identify and recognise the unique value you bring to the world.

Take the brave step to offer what you have in spite of all the easy AI solutions.

Do the hard work of crafting quality work because your unique, collective human experience is something only you can offer.

2028-30: Physical Work Replacement

AI and robotics are a very natural pair-up. Large corporations, in order to win market share, lower costs for highly customisable robots that do a wide variety of physical labour work. Leading to widespread machine presence in many industries.

Imagine spending years upgrading yourself and AI does your work in minutes.

But at least there’s physical and manual work, right? Then that goes too.

Ideally, the governmental powers recognise that a lot of money is going upwards into subscriptions, AI tools, software/hardware needs, and not flowing back down into society via increased pay, or more jobs, so large corporations are finally taxed to pay back what they’ve earned and it’s up to the government to distribute that wealth.

Universal Basic Income becomes necessary as a way to help people maintain basic human dignity, prevent crime arising from desperation, and to help mental health for adults.

And with the basic needs being provided for, after some time, you can start expressing yourself in forms such as exploring art, upgrading, taking up new hobbies, etc without the fear of lack.

I don’t know if this will happen but I wouldn’t plan my life around it.

Solution: Service to others

Money can help with lack, but it can hardly help to discover meaning. After being forced to do-it-all yourself because you have the AI tools at your fingertips, being able to serve and impact people positively is going to be crucial.

Your human experience is incomplete without other humans.

And there’s little else that compares to the joy you receive when something small and insignificant to you becomes a life-changing experience for someone else.

As technology and devices advance, it becomes easier for doomscrolling and seclusion. That is why offline connection is important, and it is necessary.

Start building your community and tribe today. You want people who know you, and you know them.

What is left when AI takes your work?

Because anyone can generate a post. Nobody can generate a friend who sits across the table and notices that you are not okay.

Proof. Self-realisation. Service to others.

You will want these 3 things when AI takes over your work. If this is the future you want to prepare for, hit me up. I would genuinely love to hear what you are thinking.
