About Asher
My name is Asher Aw Jia Wei, in Chinese, it’s 胡家维. My friends (like you) can call me Asher. Those who’ve known me since time immemorial would call me Jia Wei.
Anyway, welcome to my personal blog!
I don’t know exactly what I’m going to post here in my “About Asher” page but I’ll get to it as time goes by…
What do I like to do?
I like reading, I sing (not too bad, I think, but don’t throw me in front of Simon Cowell), I like to learn about people. I like anime, manga, comics, manhwa (yes, there are differences between the three art forms). I’ve also dabbled in basic web programming and digital art.
When I was younger, I liked anime and I joined some anime wallpaper making forums. I learned how to make some digital art by myself but mostly, I helped others by critiquing their creation process. Anyway, here’s are some of my personal wallpaper creations:

I no longer make desktop wallpapers but I still do fiddle around with Photoshop (the rest of the pictures are found here).
I did mention that I liked to sing, didn’t I? Well, I took part in my first ever singing competition way back in June of 2004 held in my church – it was Emerge 2004. I chose to sing the song “Only Love” by Trademark. The competition was tough and I only found the minus one soundtrack for the song 7 days before the actual competition! To my shock and absolute amazement…
I Won Second Place!
I still remember NOT hearing my name being announced because the other guy in the picture also won second place. I was so busy cheering for him that I didn’t hear my name announced until my surrounding friends told me that I won.
This was one of the most impactful events of my life simply because I felt so much love and support from the people around me. To this day, I still feel a lot of gratitude for that day… Ever since that day, I no longer felt that I’m a mere Jack-of-all-trades.
Because even if I am a Jack-of-all-trades, I’m going to be the best Jack-of-all-trades that I can be!
(Yes, my hair was sprayed green – I try to keep it naturally black along with my natural grey hairs now)
